Hobbies
Hello! My name is Brit and I recently moved to Missoula to do research and science filmmaking at UM. My main academic passion is for the world's ecosystems and organisms, but I find myself interested in all areas that I study. I'm a 4th generation teacher and have been tutoring since my freshman year of high school, most recently being an adjunct professor in biology and anatomy/physiology at Brunswick Community College and a graduate TA at Montana State University. My overall love of learning has allowed me to gain mastery in multiple subjects and I feel comfortable teaching across the academic spectrum. In terms of teaching philosophy, I pride myself in the atmosphere that I've been able to consistently create while teaching, either one on one or in a full lecture classroom. I truly believe that learning can not happen without an open mind, and that includes removing stress from the learning environment to leave focus for absorbing concepts without any pressure. Mistakes are perfectly fine as long as we can eventually figure out how to fix them :) My style can best be summarized as efficiently fun, where I try to convey as many concepts as possible with minimum time wasted while creating a great environment tailored to the way in which each individual learns. I love teaching and am rewarded by each experience I have with it- as always, I look forward to working with you and hope to meet you soon. Cheers, Brit
