EducationI am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Montana-Missoula. I am in the second semester of my junior year.
I plan to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree at Montana State University, specializing in natural history and science filmmaking.
ExperienceVery few teachers have taught me in a way that I found it easy to learn, so I have been forced to teach myself. It helps when a teacher or a tutor has multiple ways of explaining things (not everybody learns in an identical manner). I am a very visual learner and like to incorporate it into my studying techniques. I am particularly fond of videos and diagrams to explain complicated concepts and processes.
I scored a 27 on my ACT and a 4 on my AP biology test. I have since taken several classes (Honors Science Writing, Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Evolution, Diversity of Life, Introduction to Public Speaking) that give me the confidence to teach biology and general science at a high school level.
HobbiesI play the mandolin, guitar, banjo, ukulele, and am starting to play the violin and the bass.
I used to be employed at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, as well as a few dog daycares.
