Alysha o.
Private tutor in Missoula, MT
Education
Hello. My name is Alysha Oravetz and am a senior, majoring in Drama at the University of Montana. I also am completing my media arts minor as well. I produce shows every two weeks at a winery and write plays. I chose to major in drama because my passion is writing and media arts. However, learning structure in writing is the key to becoming a successful writer in anything. I love philosophy, science, psychology, and history. Also, of course, I love literature and studying the classical arts. As a student in highschool I couldn't wait to go to my AP classes in history and English. They were the highlight of my day! I attended the governor's writing school in Pennsylvania and continued to read everything I could! I learned at a young age that reading and writing are the keys to success when communicating and developing one's social skills. It certainly helped mine! Right now I am taking Blackfeet language class, which is almost a dying language, because not enough people are using it on the reservation. I also am taking Ethics-Great Traditions. This is a philosophy class. I have been taking a writer's workshop for the last four years. We meet every friday and critique each other's poems, plays, short stories, etc. It is the highlight of my week! I do have tutoring experience and have been a volunteer for more then a decade. I also have a young child that is a constant educational experience for the both of us! I was tutoring a girl who was developmentally slow and had severe emotional problems. This prepared me greatly in having the patience and respect for different kinds of needs for adolescents.
Experience
As I have mentioned before, I am a writer and producer. I run productions every two weeks at a local winery. My job entails: recruiting actors, writers, booking, graphic design, and marketing. But most of all, I love seeing my work on stage. I will recently have a show produced at the local Montana Actor's Theatre company here in Missoula. I also am in the process of training to be a "wish granter" for the Make-A- Wish foundation. I love helping people! I feel tutoring is something I'm good at because I try to initiate education as being fun and insightful. I also love the philosophy of asking children questions instead of directing them to the answers. By using this method, I feel, develops their confidence and independence. I am also very patient and experienced with young children. I am a nanny right now for two mothers of two young boys. We don't watch TV or just sit around. I love to read and explore the arts with them!
