Experience
I have been a paid tutor for college coursework for over seven years (intermittently). I have taught both individuals and small study groups Spanish, Ancient Greek, and Philosophy (ethics and ancient). I specialize in teaching students how to write persuasive academic papers and critiquing drafts. I was employed as a Teaching Assistant for a philosophy course at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I lectured two classes of 40 undergraduates each week, led discussion, graded papers and exams, commented on paper drafts, prepared exam study guides, and met individually with students to answer questions and discuss additional material. My academic work is in the field of Ancient Greek Philosophy, for which I write 'argument' papers and translate original works from the Ancient Greek. I graduated from the Honors College at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with two BA's. I am currently completing my MA at the University of Chicago, and I will be pursuing a PhD in the fall. I have presented original philosophic papers at UMBC and the University of Chicago, and my work has been accepted for presentation at the SSP's annual conference. My career goal is become a Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University level. I greatly enjoy teaching, and my experiences as a TA and a tutor have been extremely successful. I have helped a number of students raise their grades dramatically, from C's through F's up to A's and B's. I do this by breaking down complicated material into simple and clear steps, and using many examples and thought experiments. Successful college-level papers are significantly different from high school papers. As a TA, I taught undergraduates how to write these papers correctly and well, from forming an argument to editing a final draft. I have a great deal of experience helping others' with their work, as well as being the recipient of comments from professors and colleagues. In the business world, I have trained employees with minimal (or no) computer skills to use: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Photoshop, and custom software. I am knowledgeable about many other software applications, please inquire about specific programs.

Hobbies
I am a true academic. I spend my spare time working on my papers-- rewriting, researching and talking with colleagues and professors who have reviewed my work. I am an avid reader of current philosophy, ancient philosophy, fiction, and science fiction.
