Freshman English major at the University of Montana-Missoula
Experience
I am person who loves to teach. I have a passion for sharing ideas with people, and I never feel like I can know enough. Tutoring appeals to me for the simple reason that I am truly invested in learning and helping other people to learn. I believe that everyone learns in a different way, and I try to be flexible in the way that I instruct various people. I attended high school in Canada, and I have found that I am over prepared for American schooling in the realms of essay writing and test taking. As the curriculum in Canada is largely based on these skills, I have developed many "tricks of the trade" in order to succeed. However, seeing many people falter under these rather high-pressure circumstances, I have also come to understand the difficulties that some people have with both critical/analytical writing and test taking in general. I received a score of 1850 on the SATs, which includes a score of 11/12 on the essay portion and a score of 670 overall for the written portion. I also received a score of 5.0 on the AP exam for English. Currently, I am enrolled in a tutoring course at the University of Montana through the Davidson Honor's College in order to enhance my skills for tutoring.
